Okay, now onto the next order of business. I have always considered Into The Gloss creator Emily Weiss to be one of the most beautiful women on the planet. From her early days as a Teen Vogue intern, she has always maintained a fresh face and impeccable overall appearance. This year, Emily took to the salon and chopped off her luscious locks, and ever since, she has been my #1 hair muse!
Weiss before; always a healthy, beautiful mane, but a rather vanilla style for a beauty blogger, dontcha think?
Weiss post-cut: total vixen status.
From personal experience, I am probably the world's biggest proponent of chopped locks. Short haircuts are so much more fresh, healthy, and versatile- the perfect vehicle for a complete physical transformation. They work for any face shape, and depending on your tolerance level, most hair types. If my unruly, thick mane that grows at a chia pet pace can handle an inverted bob in July humidity, don't fear that you won't be able to manage short hair. There is such a stigma surrounding cuts like Emily's regarding upkeep, but I honestly think long hair requires more work in the long run- can you say split ends?
Here are a few of my other favourite cropped looks for *inspiration*, etc.:
Frankie Sandford of The Saturday's has the best style, which is completed by this daring asymmetrical look. She's constantly tweaking the shape slightly to keep things current, and I always bring photos of Frankie to my stylist when it's time for my regular trim.
Elle Magazine's Kate Lanphear is possibly the most stylish woman to ever exist. Of course, her signature platinum blonde haircut has as much to do with this title as her greyscale ensembles.
I've always had a love affair with Leigh Lezark's hair. Known for her jet black, inverted "lob", it was a complete shock when Leigh went back to her natural blonde, but regardless, this is a great look. Refreshing and so stylish.
And for those who covet short hair, but are afraid of losing their femininity with their locks, I encourage you to shed these thoughts. There's nothing more feminine than having your confidence to channel your inner goddess no matter what your physical appearance may be. Be bold, and don't let gender roles define the length of your hair!
"Short hair removes obvious femininity and replaces it with style"
